Welcome to the Belief, Perception and Cognition Lab (or the Jolij Lab) website. We study how beliefs influence the way the perceive and think about the world, using methods from cognitive neuroscience, and experimental (social) psychology. Moreover, the study of the effects of belief on (conscious) perception raises questions about what consciousness actually is, and how it relates to the physical world. More experimental philosophical work, including research on anomalous phenomena, is therefore on our research agenda, too.
